Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
